Guide for Educators and Mandated Reporters of Child Abuse During Remote Learning

September, 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic has created unique challenges for our educational leaders as they transition from in-person to online teaching. Some students are at a higher risk for physical and sexual abuse and neglect when more time is spent at home. Educators are vital in the fight against child abuse but knowing how to identify and respond to it in an online and remote setting creates new obstacles. The Guide for Educators and Mandated Reporters of Child Abuse During Remote Learning provides visual cues of possible abuse, verbiage to help teachers and counselors determine what is happening in a student’s home, and resources on how to make a report of abuse. While intended for educators and mandated reporters, this toolkit can also serve as a guide for everyone in the community.
